In Kulaura, the Harijan community (sweepers) are keeping animals (pigs) without following the rules and regulations. Residents of wards 2 and 6 of the municipal city have become restless due to the movement of these animals.
Many people's houses, those animals are entering the house. At around 12 noon on Saturday (May 2), some animals broke into Syed's house in Ward 7. When the people of the house called the owners of the animals and wanted to get rid of them, some members of the Harijan community tried to retaliate.
After this incident, the locals became furious and the situation became serious. Municipal councilors Kayshar Arif (No. 2) and Russell Ahmed Chowdhury (No. 6) led by Kulaura Thana SI Masud calmed down the agitated people by appearing at the spot.
And promised to resolve the matter in consultation with the animal owners. In order for them to farm their animals at their own risk, the crowd returned calmly. It is learned that for the last few years, some families of the Harijan community (sweeper village) of Ward 2 of Kulaura Municipality have been rearing animals (pigs) freely.
The victim Nahid said that they released the animals freely. Many of them broke into their houses. Despite repeated explanations, they (the Harijan community) do not want to pay attention to this. Even today, when the same incident starts, the locals get angry. Later, however, the situation calmed down with the intervention of the local councilor and the administration.
We want a lasting solution. Kulaura Municipal Councilors Kaiser Arif and Russell Ahsad Chowdhury said many locals were suffering due to the free movement of these animals kept by the Harijan community. Since there have been objections to the matter, they have been asked to keep them tied for the time being.
More than two hundred animals are being reared freely in this place without any farm. These animals sometimes enter people's homes. It even enters the home kitchen. They are complaining that the public life of the people in the area is being disrupted and they are facing serious health risks.
The animals are initiating sensitive incidents like digging graves by entering various religious places (graveyards) including destroying the agricultural lands and fruits in the vicinity of this area. As a manifestation of this, the attack and counter-attack of the residents of Sweeper Colony took place on Saturday with the permanent residents of Uttar Joypasha and Ward 2 of the 8th ward of the municipal city.
Tomorrow (Sunday) a meeting will be held with the Harijan community and the prescribed steps will be taken for a permanent solution. Kulaura police station SI Masud said, after receiving the news, I went to the spot and calmed down the situation. The municipal authorities have been informed to resolve the matter permanently. If necessary, steps will be taken to take legal action.
