According to the Hindu calendar, Krishna Janmashtami is celebrated on the eighth day of Krishna paksha in the month of Bhadra and on the constellation Rohini.

This year, the Janmashtami date will be from 9:00 am to 11:00 am on Tuesday, August 11. On the other hand, Rohini Nakshatra will be there from 3:26 am on August 13 to 5:22 am on August 14.

On the occasion of Janmashtami, Gita Yajna started at the Dhakeswari premises of the National Temple on Tuesday morning. This Gita Yajna was conducted by Swami Tapanananda Giri Maharaj, Principal of Sitakunda Math and Mission in Chittagong.

He said that God has appeared in all ages to suppress evil and to observe good manners. During this coronavirus epidemic, we are worshiping Lord Krishna today. He will give us a world free from decay and disease.

Kishore Ranjan Mandal, general secretary of the Mahanagar Sarbajanin Puja Committee, said the Durgotsab was started mainly through the Janmashtami festival. After that, the followers of the Bengali Hindu religion will start organizing Durga Puja.

The teenager said that the main puja of Janmashtami will be held at Dhakeswari temple at 8 pm.

On the occasion of Janmashtami, the President greeted the followers of traditional religions. Abdul Hamid said, “Lord Krishna was a symbol of humanity and a social reformer. The President called for strengthening the bonds of communal harmony and friendship for the prosperity of the country.

He said, “The whole world including Bangladesh is fighting against the Corona epidemic today. The whole world has come to a standstill today due to the effect of Corona. The economy, including livelihoods, employment, trade and commerce, and international travel are under serious threat. The Government of Bangladesh is making all-out efforts to deal with the Corona situation. In order to deal with this situation, the government as well as the people of the country should extend a helping hand.
