The app will tell if you were in contact with Corona.


A contact tracing app has been launched to identify people who have come in contact with a patient infected with the corona virus (Covid-19). This smartphone based app called 'Corona Tracer BD' is now available on Google Play Store.
The app was officially launched on Thursday (June 4). State Minister for Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Junaid Ahmed Palak inaugurated the app in a video conference as the chief guest.

Senior Secretary of the ICT Department NM Ziaul Alam, Director General of the Department of Health Prof. Dr. was present as a special guest. Abul Kalam Azad, Mirzadi Sebrina Flora, director of the Institute of Pathology, Disease Control and Research (IEDCR), Maliha M Qadir, founder and managing director of Sahaj, among others.

The Corona Tracer BD app uses Bluetooth and modern technology to automatically save time and location of users when they are close to two users. Whenever another app user comes within a certain distance, the two apps will ‘digitally shake hands’ with each other and securely exchange the required information. The 'Corona Tracer BD' app can be downloaded from the Google Play Store.

About the app, Junaid Ahmed Palak said that the Corona Tracer BD app should be used on smartphones for the protection of oneself and one's family. Using the app will reduce the risk a lot. While using the app, it will be known whether you have been affected by any corona in the vicinity or have come in contact with the victims.

Palak further said that the government is coming up with various technology based solutions one after another to address the problems and crises using ICT infrastructure in the journey of building a digital Bangladesh based on the dream of the Prime Minister. One such app is Corona Tracer BD to combat corona outbreaks. Which will play an important role in creating a safety net for life and livelihood. The government has already made a living through technology-based solutions in agriculture, education, health and emergency food supply. The Corona Tracer BD app can be one of the most effective solutions to prevent the spread of the corona epidemic.

State Minister Palak requested everyone to download and use the app.

The app was developed by the ICT Department, the Department's Mobile Game Applications Project, the Department of Health, IEDCR and Access to Information (A2I). And the online platform 'Sahaj' has provided technical assistance in creating the app.
