Industry Minister Nurul Majid Mahmud Humayun has said that the (financial) implementation rate of the project has been achieved at 99.18 percent in the last 2019-20 fiscal year under the Ministry of Industries. He said the project needs to work to overcome Corona’s fears.
If necessary, the progress of the project should be taken forward by working even on the day of a government closure.
He made the remarks at a meeting to review the progress of the revised Annual Development Program projects for the 2019-20 fiscal year up to June on Sunday (July 26). Industries Minister KM Ali Azam presided over the function while Industries Minister Nurul Majid Mahmud Humayun was the chief guest and State Minister for Industries Kamal Ahmed Majumder was the special guest. Besides, senior officials and project directors of the Ministry of Industries and its affiliated departments were also present.
In his speech, the Industries Minister emphasized the modernization of cables, cement, sugar and other manufacturing companies under the Ministry of Industries. He urged to increase the production capacity in the country instead of importing the products produced in these factories.
He said Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is a symbol of people's confidence. He has been working tirelessly to deal with other natural disasters, including Corona. We all need to be more active and energetic in imitating him. Projects need to be taken up quickly by identifying the sectors that have job creation opportunities. At the same time, he directed the concerned project managers to inform the Ministry of Industries by implementing the decisions taken in the project evaluation meeting within the stipulated time.
The state minister for industry urged for setting up of new industrial factories with modern technology to take the country's economy forward. He said initiatives should be taken to modernize the old industrial factories under the ministry including Karnafuli Paper Mill. He called for speedy implementation of the projects, saying if the projects are not implemented on time, people's money is wasted.
The state minister said the production activities have been continued in compliance with the health norms during the Corona period following the instructions of the Prime Minister. As a result, the wheel of the country's economy is moving by coping with the Corona situation. The state minister directed to take initiative to set up BSTI offices in all districts to prevent adulteration of products across the country.
The meeting was informed that land acquisition for the construction of 34 buffer godowns is underway for the proper maintenance of fertilizers. The meeting decided to recruit the required number of officers for the project for speedy implementation of the project and to construct a buffer godown through a number of local experienced steel infrastructure construction companies.
It was further informed in the meeting that the work of Gopalganj BSCIC Industrial City Expansion Project is nearing completion and the automation work of CETP of Leather Industrial City located in Savar and the related training will be completed soon. The Leather Working Group (LWG) provides guidance on the proper implementation of initiatives to achieve the standards. In addition, instructions were given to return the unspent funds of the previous year of the projects and to send proposals regarding the creation of new posts in the projects.
