For the first time, a black man is the head of the US Air Force

Police in riot gear storm a rally on Friday, removing hundreds of protesters by truck. In the midst of such tensions, for the first time in history, a black officer has been appointed as the head of the US Air Force. The US Senate has appointed General Charles Brown Jr. as Chief of Staff of the Air Force. News from Fox News.

The proposal to appoint General Charles Brown as chief of the Air Force was unanimously passed by the Senate on Tuesday. The Senate approved Brown's nomination by a vote of 98 to 0. President Donald Trump also tweeted expressing excitement over Brown's appointment. "This is a historic day for America," he wrote. Trump also referred to General Brown as "an extraordinary patriot and a great leader."

The decision came as 140 major cities in 50 U.S. states staged anti-apartheid protests against the assassination of George Floyd, a young black man. Critics say the Trump administration has appointed Charles Brown as the new head of the US Air Force to ease ongoing protests in the United States. General Brown, meanwhile, is the second African American to be named to the United States' Joint Chiefs of Staff. Colin Powell served as the country's army chief from 1989 to 1993.
